HISTORY:

The Order of the Arrow (OA) was founded by Dr. E. Urner Goodman ad Carol A. Edison in 1915 at the Treasure Island Scout Camp. Our Lodge, Tipisa 326, was founded in 1946, and still continues to serve the Central Florida Council. Astatula Chapter was formed when the Dakota Chapter split into two separate chapters. Astatula has been running strong ever since our formation and the tradition continues with a new program year.

Chapter Name and Totem

The word Astatula is Seminole for “people pf many villages”, reflecting that we Arrowmen are a collection of people from many villages (troops), bound together in this brotherhood. Our chapter totem also reflects this idea: it is a quiver full of arrows, just as we are arrowmen together in the chapter. Look closely, you will discover that there are twelve arrows in the quiver, representing the 12 points of the scout law. Pay even closer attention and you will realize that our quiver is the same quiver found on Tipisa’s lodge flap.
